Bookkeeping Services for Key West Small Businesses

SoFlo360 is a Florida-based bookkeeping firm serving Key West small businesses remotely. We're up in Polk County — nowhere near the island, and we won't pretend otherwise — but the entire engagement runs online, which is exactly what a hospitality-and-charter economy at the end of the highway needs.

How We Work

How we work with Key West-area businesses

Key West runs on tourism — restaurants, bars, charters, tours, dive shops, and short-term rentals, all seasonal and all cash-and-tip heavy. Getting a bookkeeper to come to the island is expensive and slow; getting clean books done remotely isn't. We reconcile the POS against the bank, track Monroe County sales and tourist tax, and close every month on schedule — from Polk County, entirely online. For an island economy, remote isn't a compromise; it's the practical answer.

Key West FAQ

Common questions from Key West-area business owners.

We're based in Polk County, a long way north — there's no pretending Key West is nearby — but distance is irrelevant when the whole engagement runs online: bank feeds, cloud accounting, video calls, monthly reports. Almost everything in modern bookkeeping runs remote — bank feeds, document upload, cloud accounting, video calls. Most of our Key West clients have never met us in person, and video covers every conversation from onboarding through year-end.
A few reasons. One: no city-office overhead — we work remotely from Polk County, so you're not paying for a Key West storefront. Two: we're built specifically for smaller businesses — solo owners and small teams under a few hundred transactions a month — so we're not priced around the mid-market work larger firms structure around. Three: the engagement is a fixed monthly close, not billable hours. If you're a high-volume, multi-entity operation, a larger firm may genuinely fit you better — and we'll tell you that up front.
Yes. We set the books up to track Florida state sales tax (6%) plus the Monroe County discretionary surtax (1.5%) correctly per transaction. For vacation rentals, the county tourist development tax also applies, and we track it per property. We prepare each return so it's ready to file; the filing itself is normally done by you or your CPA.
Key West and the Keys have deep Cuban and Caribbean roots, and Spanish is part of everyday business across the island's hospitality economy. We offer Spanish-friendly support — calls, emails, and document review can run in Spanish whenever that's easier for the client.
For our purposes, yes. Anywhere in Monroe County (Key West, Marathon, Islamorada, Key Largo, and the rest of the Florida Keys) is what we mean by 'Key West-area' on this page. The work is identical and the pricing is identical — there's no location markup.
That's fine. Your QuickBooks Online file is yours — we don't lock it down and we don't trap data. We deliver a clean year-end packet to whoever takes over, and switching costs you nothing on our end — just give us 30 days' notice.
